Relationships

The Meaning Of Marriage - Tim Keller

Kyle & I read this book before we got married and it really gave us a strong understanding of what biblical marriage represents. It also goes into great detail about how today’s society portrays marriage and where this all stemmed from. I think it’s important to educate ourselves about biblical marriage because the media mostly shows dysfunctional relationships.

Keep Your Love On - Danny Silk

This is a book I recommended to everyone! This book has helped me in every type of relationship—not just marriage! I actually read it when I was single and it gave me a ton of insight on friendships, family relationships, boundaries, & communication.

The Power Of A Praying Wife - Stormie Omartian

I just started this book a couple months ago and it is extremely powerful. The book is scripture and prayer focused. Every chapter focuses on a different aspect of your husband’s life and gives practical advice on how to pray into it. I also highly recommend getting the workbook that goes along with it. It has insightful questions and prompts to really engage with the material.

Why Is She Smiling - Amy Williams

This is a quick read that should encourage any wife out there. It helped me better understand the importance of submission and we can find God in every situation in our marriages.

Loveolgy - John Mark Comer

This was another book that Kyle & I read. It covered a wide range of topics that revolved around love. I especially enjoyed the unique biblical perspective and the emphasis on a God-centered marriage.

A Celebration Of Sex For Newlyweds - Douglas Rosenau

The title covers it all! This book breaks down sex for newleyweds and ties everything back to the Bible. It gives great practical advice to start and improve your sex life. I would definitely recommend this book to virgins who waited for marriage & have a lot of questions about sex. It also gives great insight on how to understand each other better. Be aware that this book included diagrams of sex positions and vivid descriptions of our atonomy. I would recommend reading this a couple weeks before the wedding or read it on your honeymoon with your spouse (that’s what kyle & I did!).

The Ruthless Elimination Of Hurry - John Mark Comer

I LOVE THIS BOOK!! You’ve probably heard me talk about it in several youtube videos. This book goes against everything hustle culture tells us. It invites us to slow down and enjoy our life. It talks about how today’s society greatly influences our mental health and challenges our daily habits. It invites us to soak in our time with Jesus and live out a healthy restful lifestyle. Many people teach on Jesus’ teachings, but few teach on Jesus’ lifestyle & this book does just that.

The Circle Maker - Mark Batterson

If you need some inspiration to step up your prayer game this book is for you! This book is all about the power of prayer and how to step into it. I think we all forget the authority we have in Christ and this book reminds us how important it is to pray big prayers.

Spiritual Disciplines Handbook: Practices That Transform Us

I gotta be honest & share that I haven’t dived too deep into this book yet, however a trusted friend highly recommends it. This is a great practical guide to increase your spiritual discipline. My friend recommends choosing two disciplines at a time to work on. One that comes more naturally to you and another that feels a bit more challenging.

Devotionals

New Morning Mercies - Paul David Tripp

The most instagram storied devotional of all time. I saw Kristin Johns post about this devotional for awhile before I finally snagged it & I’m so glad I did. Now I recommend it all the time! I get so many messages from you saying how much you love it. I personally love how in-depth and challenging each devotional is. It is not a fluffy feel good read. Many of the entries help you self-reflect and grow. I also love how it gives you a longer reading assignment each day instead of just one verse.

Embraced - Lysa TerKeurst

This was one of my first devotionals and I would recommend it to any new Christian. It is very encouraging and is filled with personal testimonies related to each entry. This really helped me apply each reading to my day. It also has a beautiful linen hard cover that looks great in photos!

After You Say I Do Devotional - H. Norman Wright

This is a marriage devotional that Kyle & I do together. The topics of the devotional range a lot, but it does provoke great conversation between us. Doing this together has helped us communicate more and talk through different topics we wouldn’t have thought to talk about.

Emotionally Healthy Spirituality - Peter Scazzero

I love this interesting take on a quiet time. This devotional is structured a bit different than others—make sure to read the instructions to understand the process better. I love that is asks you to engage God, pray, sit in silence, and gives great reflections. If you’re looking to spice up your devotional time this is a great option for you!
